On August 3, 2022, Tuesday, Dave Temkin wrote: “I’ve heard that Vijay Gill died today. I’m devastated since Vijay meant so much to my friends and I. sarcastic and rude, yet always trustworthy and honest.
He was incredibly important to me and helped me get through some of the most difficult times in my professional life. My heart goes out to his family.

An expert in computer science and an IT executive, Vijay Gill. Since October 2021, he has been RapidAPI Inc.’s SVP of Engineering.
He studied at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and earned a degree in computer science and mathematics there.
Gill began his professional career at UMBC as a system administrator, according to his LinkedIn profile. After that, he worked for UUNET/Worldcom for two years, until May 2000, as a network engineer.
The computer science graduate worked with MFN/Abovenet, AOL, and the Internet Architecture Board between 2000 and 2010 in various capacities.
When Gill joined Google in November 2006, his career experienced a significant boost. He began as a member of the technical team and then advanced to the managerial level. For Google, he oversaw production network engineering and architecture.
After leaving Google, he worked as a general manager for Microsoft where he oversaw teams that built the global infrastructure for Microsoft’s online services for both consumers and companies around the world. In 2015, he quit the company.
The former Google employee afterwards accepted a position as SVP of Software Engineering at Sales Force. He eventually worked for Databricks, Twilio Inc., and RapidAPI, his current company.
The SVP was responsible for RapidAPI’s infrastructure, platform, and product. His experience resulted in a number of improvements to the RapidAPI system, which finally led to the platform becoming one of the most effective centers for APIs.
He also concentrated on IoT, Big Data, Telemetry, Visualization, and ML/A.
