At just 46 years old, musician Sipho Kaleni passed suddenly on August 1st, 2022 from an illness. Although specifics are still hazy, Kaleni’s death was officially announced as having occurred following a brief illness. Since May 2022, Kaleni was ‘supposedly’ suffering from illness.

The Crown Gospel Music Awards, which Kaleni co-founded, made the tragic announcement in a statement.

The declaration said:

“The World Gospel Powerhouse is heartbroken to announce Sipho Kaleni, one of the original Crowns Gospel Music Awards EXCO members, has passed away. Despite showing signs of progress over the past few weeks, Kaleni, a brilliant minister of the word, musician, well-known MC, radio host, and devoted SDA church member, tragically lost the battle in the early hours of this morning, August 1, 2022. Kaleni had been ill since roughly May of this year.”

Learning more about the life and works of Sipho Kaleni

Sipho Kaleni, a well-known South African musician who was born on September 21, 1975, had a special interest in Christian music. Kaleni went to Umsobomvu Primary School and Nkumbulo Comprehensive School as a child before earning a degree from Mbira School of Music and Arts.

In 1998, Kaleni began her careers as a producer and a recording artist. Later on, he also studied composition, orchestration, and talent scouting. He then had the responsibility of assessing brand-new gospel albums for Radio Pulpit.

Later, he established Parousia Communications and worked as the director of Overeth Music Publishing. In addition, Kaleni was a member of the Crowns Gospel Music Awards’ EXCO at its inception. For a while, he was also the radio station manager for Adventist World Radio.

In addition to hosting the music program Gospel Gold, the musician spoke at numerous public gatherings. Throughout his career, Sipho Kaleni collaborated with Lebo Sekgobela, Mabongi, and Bishop Benjamin Dube as an emcee for numerous performances and gospel music albums.

For Spirit of Praise, Kaleni also played music and served as a presenter. In a statement, the Crown Gospel Music Awards praised Kaleni for her outstanding award hosting abilities.
