Actor Jonathan Vincent Voight was born in the United States on December 29, 1938. In his Academy Award-nominated performance as Joe Buck, a would-be gigolo, in Midnight Cowboy, he rose to fame in the late 1960s (1969).
With his performances as a businessman involved in a murder in Deliverance (1972), a paraplegic Vietnam veteran in Coming Home (1978), for which he received an Academy Award for Best Actor, and an impoverished former boxing champion in the remake of The Champ, he rose to fame in Hollywood during the 1970s (1979).
